Yoga can have many benefits both during and after pregnancy. It can help you feel comfortable and safe, prepare you for labour and speed post labour recovery. It can also be a wonderful bonding experience once your little one arrives.
As MalaMoon’s resident Yoga teacher I am a 85 hour registered pregnancy yoga teacher, completing my training with Sally Parkes.
In our pregnancy classes you can expect focussed classes to help prepare you for the changes your body will go through. We will work on strengthening the muscles as they move and adapt, exercises for birth preparation and optimal birth position, relaxation and breathwork in addition to helping the body stretch to create a feeling of space for baby. Our pregnancy classes are aimed at women in trimester 2 and 3.
Our postnatal classes are designed to support new mothers to rebuild strength, stability and assist in repairing some of the common post birth physical aspects women experience, such as diastasis recti. Our post natal classes are designed for women a minimum of 6 weeks post birth, we will work with our women to assess their birth experience and may recommend waiting for a longer period prior to commencing post natal yoga classes with us.
Mother and baby classes can be a super fun way to bond with your baby, meet other mothers and have something to ground and support you on your journey as a new mother. Our classes are designed to create a safe space for our women and the babies, we sing and use props to entertain the babies whilst giving the mothers a chance to move their bodies.
