My name is Selina and I am the resident Yoga teacher here at MalaMoon.

I came to yoga a few years ago after suffering an injury that prevented my usual exercise routine.  During rehab for my injury a number of exercises were recommended by the professionals to help heal my body, many of these were yoga based.  As the time wore on and the injury was taking longer than I wanted to heal, I found that I was starting to struggle with stress and anxiety in a way I never had in my life up to that point.  Taking a step back I took a long hard look at myself and realised that working in a high intensity career combined with personal challenges that were ongoing at the time, the lack of my usual exercise outlet was becoming a problem. I needed to take positive action.

I started following an online yoga class which soon lead me to a studio.  I found the benefits of yoga on my body and mind to be a powerful tool in managing the pressure of everything that felt like it was colliding in my life. I soon set about practicing in various corners of the world from Ibiza to Bali until eventually I decided to take the step to qualify as an instructor.  The drive for this was so that I could share with others the healing benefits of yoga and in some small way help others.

I am a 200 hour RYT qualified instructor having trained under Swami Maha-taranada at ‘The Yoga Connection’ in Arizona USA and an 85 RPYT qualified instructor having trained under Sally Parkes in the UK.

My approach to yoga is to take a students whole body as they may find it in any given day, to offer adjustments for beginner to advanced and to always practice with kindness using the practice to find unity in the body and mind.  In the Western world the true definition of Yoga is often misunderstood, the yoking of the body and mind: a union.  A practice with 8 limbs.
